Paper Format

To select a badge size:

1.First select a Paper size in the pull-down menu located in the Paper Format frame. You will see the badge format change depending on the paper size you have selected. For Avery Photo ID, please select 4 x 6 in. in the pull-down menu.
2.Select a format in the Badge Format list. You will see the Badge Information frame on the right with details of the badge.
3.You must also configure the page orientation to match the badge orientation.
4.When you are done, click OK.
5.You can now see that the workspace has a new badge format. You can now start designing your badge.

To create a custom badge:

To make it easier to customize a new Badge, IDpack Designer sets the New Format default layout to the badge you selected in the Badge Format list. To do this, follow the instructions on how to select a badge size here.

1.Click on the New Format button in the Paper Format frame. A new window will open to customize the new layout.
2.At the top of the window, you can see the Layout Preview. On the left of the preview you have a close-up view of the badge and on the right you have a preview of the full page.
3.Under the Layout Preview you can see the Unit used to enter the measurement. To change the Unit, please refer to the Options section.
4.If you don't have the right paper size, you can change it with the pull-down menu.
5.Enter a Badge Name to identify your own layout in the Badge Format list.
6.Enter all the measurements for the layout in the input boxes. You can see the actual layout of your badge in the Layout Preview.
7.You can click the Print Layout button to get a template of your layout on paper. The Print Layout button will be disabled if there is an error in your badge layout.
8.When you are done, click OK to complete the setup. The OK button will also be disabled if there is an error in your badge layout.
9.Select your new format in the Badge Format list.
10.You must also configure the page orientation with respect to the badge orientation (see below).
11.When you are done, click OK.
12.You can now see that the workspace contains a new badge with your custom format. You can now start designing your badge.

clip0076 Note

If you have created a new Paper Format with IDpack Designer, IDpack has created a file called cprd.idr located in your IDpack directory (c:\ Program File\IDpack). That file is very important. If you are sharing the IDpack Project (IDP) on a network, you must copy the cprd.idr file from the IDpack Professional directory onto all the computers. If you don't, you will not be able to open the IDP file. It also applies if you plan to move your Badge Layout to a new computer. We recommend you back up this file in case something happens.

Page orientation:

By default, page orientation for the printer in IDpack Professional is always portrait. Certain paper layouts are such that if you want to design a badge with a landscape layout, you will have to choose the portrait page orientation when printing and vice versa. However, you will see the difference in the workspace.

Enable the Mirror Badge

This option is only available with certain badge formats using a 4 x 6 in. paper format: Avery 2943, 2947,2948, 2949 and Aptika 4643. When checking the option, IDpack Producer will print a mirror image of the badge, so when you print the badge and fold the paper in half, you will get the same badge on both sides.

clip0077 Tip

1.To obtain a badge printed on both sides, you must have a paper format with at least 2 cards across and an even number (2, 4, 6...) of cards overall, so the cards can be folded. Create a custom format by following the instructions above, then double the width of the badge and reduce the number across by half.

2.The Avery®  Business Card size is the most commonly used format, so we have already made it available as a double-sided badge in the Badge Format list. Simply select Avery 5371 Double in the list.

Then when you design the badge, half of the workspace you see will be the other side of the badge. When you print the badge, fold it in two and laminate it like that. You will then have a badge with both sides printed.
